Time management is a misnomer the challenge is to manage ourselves – Stephen Covey
I am sure most of us are struggling to manage time and forget that it is all about managing ourselves. As home business entrepreneurs, without having a boss to look over our shoulder it is very easy to go off track and waste our time.
Most of the people complain about not having enough time and it is one of the objections and excuse for some of them not to start a home business.
Tim Sales, a well known MLM trainer gives a great explanation that will help people with the “not enough time” objection or excuse.
This is an exercise you need to do.
- Take a sheet of paper
- Draw two vertical lines to divide it to three sections – each section represents 8hrs of the day, hence the whole sheet is 24hrs.
- Write “sleep” in one section – i.e. your 8hrs of sleep time
- Write “job” in the second section – this is assuming that you are doing a full time job
- Write “stuff” in the final section – Now these are all the other “stuff” you do. Start writing down all the stuff you do during this 8hrs.
Look at all the “Stuff” you do…
Now you have a good idea where your time is spent and you are in a better position to know whether you can start a home business or not.
So if you have a desire to start a home business don’t let the “no time to do anything else” mentality rob you of your true potential. Do this test to find out what is actually happening to your time.
Today I was reading some quotations about time and just want to share some of the quotes I liked.
If you had a bank that credited your account each morning with $86,400, that carried over no balance from day to day, and allowed you to keep no cash in your account, and every evening canceled whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day, what would you do? Draw out every cent of course!
Well, you do have such a bank, and it’s name is “time.” Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it rules off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose.
If you fail to use the day’s deposits the loss is yours.

Since time is not a person we can overtake when he is gone, let us honor him with mirth and cheerfulness of heart while he is passing.
