I was inspired to do this post while listening to the song “We Weren’t Born To Follow” by Bon Jovi
Leaders are different. They are committed & in the process of becoming a leader your commitment will be tested. Once you overcome the obstacles and achieve what you set out to do your rewards are enormous.
You need to approach leadership as if you are following an extreme sport. So, Fear is definitely a part of it.
You will need to learn from others. You need to be bold & confident.
You know what it right and what is required & this may lead to taking bold action the others may not approve.
Fist step is to get the education you need – learn from the experts.

Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe” – Bon Jovi

Damayanthi, I love Bon Jovi and I really enjoyed the way you approached this subject. It is always difficult to “self brand” if you are spending all of your time trying to please others.

This is a great song matching with a great leader like yourself. Although We all can learn from Ann & Mike…. but our continued learning will keep us by giving for the people who want to follow and learn more from us as leaders.

I especially liked you comment about learning to do something and then sharing it with others. That is a good character of a leader.
