Ever Experienced Inertia?

I am sure some of you noticed that I didn’t blog for a couple of weeks. Now I am back on track I have to share this with you, because I believe that there is a good lesson we all can learn.

Ok, first of all, according to Dictionery.com Inertia means:

in·er·tia

_noun

1. inertness, esp. with regard to effort, motion, action, and the like; inactivity; sluggishness.

2. Physics .

a. the property of matter by which it retains its state of rest or its velocity along a straight line so long as it is not acted upon by an external force.

b. an analogous property of a force: electric inertia.

3. Medicine/Medical . lack of activity, esp. as applied to a uterus during childbirth when its contractions have decreased or stopped.

There are a few meanings here, but in a nutshell it is a state of “inactivity”.

It is interesting to also note that an object that is at rest tend to stay at rest and an object in a state of motion tend to stay in motion.

Why am I telling you all these things?

I was in a state of “inertia” for the last couple of weeks and it was very difficult to get out of that. This was with regards to doing blog posts, videos and articles.

How did this happen to me? – I believed that I am quite organized and disciplined in my business.

Now I figured out the cause for my inactivity in building my blog.

I was taking so many de-tours and overwhelmed myself with the sheer amount of information I was trying to consume, without a proper strategy.

Every time I thought of an idea for a blog, I will come up with a dozen things to put it off. For eg: I will do it after this webinar, I will do it after posting this PPC ad, I will do it after adding friends on YouTube, I will do it tomorrow, …. The list of excuses for procrastination goes on. The bottom line is that I wasn’t productive in my main marketing methods.

The funniest part is that I am a big fan of Jeff Olsen’s book The Slight Edge, where he explains the power of taking action. Well… I know it all, but unfortunately knowing isn’t enough unless you practice.

Thankfully, I came to my senses and realized what I was doing to me and my business. In business you are either moving forward or moving back-words, there is no standing still.

What did I do?

I took three complete days off and unplugged myself from the business totally. I spend time with my family and enjoyed the moments without feeling guilty. I came back with so much enthusiasm, put a fresh plan together and started working on it.

It is a simple plan with three marketing methods I am mastering. I will not be plugged into other trainings if they do not fall within the core marketing techniques I am mastering. I will be working on myself than ever before.

I will be documenting my journey with my new strategic plan, and will keep you posted on how I am going on a weekly basis.

I am so excited, and taking ACTION is the best thing that you could do to your business. Did you notice that the last 6 letters of the word “ATTRACTION”? Yes… “ACTION”

Awesome D, just awesome. I can absolutely relate to your thoughts on inertia… I had been completely inert on my blog these last FOUR MONTHS lol, but I simply HAD to return, if only for the lovely people like yourself whom this industry is made of.

    Thank you for everything!
